Live-streaming Tonight From Wrocław

We have enjoyed a leisurely day as we saw this beautiful city from our buses on the way to the Baptist church here in Wrocław. We had our morning devotional with Michael and enjoyed Dominoes Pizza for lunch at the church. After that many of us walked a short distance to a shopping mall and got shop and walk around a bit.

We have also received word that the church tonight plans to live stream our concert on their YouTube channel. Concert is at 7:00 in Poland which means 12:00 Noon in Texas. So find a screen somewhere at lunch and enjoy our concert. Feel free to share the link with your friends and family.

A Somber Reminder

Ministry Day 6 Report April 24, 2023

Today our team visited and toured the Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial. It is located a short drive from Katowice. Because of the subject matter and heaviness of what we experienced we planned to take tonight off and not do a concert. We are now traveling to Wrocław this afternoon and will enjoy an earlier dinner and a chance to unwind.

Our tour lasted a couple of hours and we were guided through in groups through out the grounds of Auschwitz where over one million Jews were murdered by the Nazi regime in the 1940’s. It was a somber reminder of what evil people can become and do when they reject the truth of God. May we never forget these souls and may we as a society never allow it to happen again.

We took the opportunity to stand outside of the Birkenau gates on the railroad track that thousands were brought in on to reflect and share together. Michael Gott shared a brief thought and we sang a song of hope.

Please pray for us that our rest will be multiplied and that our final three concerts will be well attended. Pray that many will find forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Not Your Normal Sunday

Ministry Day 5 Report – Sunday, April 23, 2023

Sundays are always a busy day for the members of the Singing Men of Texas. After all, the majority of us are Worship Leaders in our churches back home. Sundays on a Mission Trip are also always busy. On past trips to Ukraine and other countries we have worshipped with a local congregation and sing in their service on Sundays. On this trip in Poland we did not get to attend a local church this morning.

This morning we started our day after breakfast by meeting together in the Cinema Theater at the Doubletree Hotel. Our director Trent Blackley along with Micheal Bridges and Steve Colburn led our group in a time of worship before Michael Gott brought a very meaningful message about leaving a legacy of faith for our families. When our guys get in a room and get to sing “off the page” and just worship together it is a special time. This morning was no different. God was worshipped and His spirit was present with us in that theater room. Click here for a small clip of our worship time.

After worship we loaded up the buses and headed to the city of Katowice. (Pronounced Kat-o-vee-chee) Once we arrived we had lunch at the Courtyard Hotel. This hotel is a very tall skyscraper with 27 floors. I’m typing this from the 22nd floor and the view is amazing. The hotel is very good but its downside is it only has two elevators. So it takes a while to make it to one’s room. We are getting used to this as most of our hotels have fewer elevators than we are used to in the states.

Our concert tonight was in a municipal theater that held 1,000. It started an hour earlier than our normal concert times at 6:00 p.m. local time. Pastor Jerzy Rogaczewski of the Baptist church here in Katowice was our host and had invited some city officials who attended. According to Jan Gott, this was a very big deal that they would attend. The attendance was only around 275 but everyone there met us with warm applause and a standing ovation at the conclusion. Once again Michael Gott presented a simple Gospel presentation and invited all to seek God’s forgiveness in their life.

Enjoy this video of Donnie Page singing the solo with the men on “The Midnight Cry”.

Our Sunday ended with dinner at the hotel with most of our group retiring to their rooms pretty quick after eating. This was one of those concerts in a tour where many were heard to say, “I’m tired tonight.” It did not affect our performance but it has been a very demanding schedule these past several days.

It was not our normal Sunday for us today, and while we missed being with our own congregations we know we are right where we are supposed to be this week. Thanks to the many substitute worship leaders today across the North Central Texas area who filled in for us so that we could be here in Poland.

Tomorrow we do not have a concert. We will visit Auschwitz before going on to Wrocław later in the day and have a bit of a restful evening. We have three more concerts and your prayers are important. Pray that these next three concerts will be well attended. Pray that the Lord will draw people to the halls and hear the Gospel in song and word.

Thank you and credit goes to Kelly Moore, wife of member Phil Moore, for most of the pictures in these galleries. She is getting great shot of the crowds and interactions with our men and several of our wives.

Report of Responses So Far

We have done five concerts and have four left. We received this word from our MGI team this morning.

So far we have had 532 people record a positive written response at the end of our concerts and we’re not done yet! We still have 4 concerts to go. Please continue to pray for the ongoing evangelistic effort here in Poland.
